IMPORTANCE OF THE FIRST 10 DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH

* Day of 'Arafah - 9th Dhul Hijjah
* 'Eid Al-Adhâ - 10th Dhul Hijjah (Day of Sacrifice)
* Days of Tashríq - 11th, 12th & 13th Dhul Hijjah

Ibn Umar (ra) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "There
are no other days that are greater before Allah (swt), or in which
good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these Ten Days. So increase
in your saying of Tahlíl (Lâ ilâha illallâh), Takbír (Allâhu Akbar),
and Tahmíd (Alhamdulillâh)." [Ahmad & At-Tabarâni]

Abu Qatâdah (ra) reported that the Messenger (saw) said: "Fasting the
Day of 'Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the
coming one." [Muslim]

All brothers and sisters are encouraged to increase in their worship
and good deeds during these blessed days of Dhul Hijjah. Fasting in
the first ten days is recommended, especially on the Day of 'Arafah.
One should also try to engage in more dhikr (remembrance of Allah),
du'a (supplications), seek Allah's forgiveness, and perform the
sacrifice (Udhiyyah / Qurbâni) on the 10-13th of Dhul Hijjah if
they are able to do so.
