Imam Hassan Al-Banna Sentiasa Dirahmati Allah

Sheikh Ahmed A El Banna spoke about the childhood of his son' Imam
Hassan El Banna, saying: "Termedhi, the Hadeeth collector, reported
on the authority of Ayyoub Bin Mousa, through his father, and his
grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Unto Him)
said: 'No father has provided his child with a better trait than good
manners.' I wished since I had married", continued the father: "that
Allah would give me a righteous son that I would raise up on good
manners to be a good offspring, a recurrent good work and a lasting
influence. Allah responded to my prayer, granted my wish, and gave me
a righteous son. I called him Hassan El Banna."

He added: "Allah has always protected my son since young age with
His divine care from all what could have harmed him. One night, a
snake approached him while he was asleep. I asked Allah to protect
him from its harm, and it went away. In another occasion, the ceiling
of our first house in Mahmoudiyyah fell over him in ruin and was very
close to kill him and his brother Abdul Rahman, but Allah protected
them both by keeping the ceiling hanging over the stair well.

Both were shorter than the stairs' height. Hassan stayed under the
ceiling until the rubbles were removed and Allah honored his brother
through him, and both of them came out safe by the grace of Allah."
In another incident, his father relates: "Dogs barked at him so hard
that he threw himself, (out of fear), in the village's small channel,
the Rasheedeyah Channel, which was brewing with the Nile's high
flooding waters. The Channel through him on the bank, and a lady
picked him up. Allah had saved him from drowning."

"My son's childhood was not a usual one", his father
continues, "Since he was a child his intelligence was obvious. He
started to ask about the universe, its maker, the moon and its
creator. I noticed his intelligence early in his childhood. I sent
him to memorize the Qur'an, and taught him the Sunnah and raised him
on good manners." He adds: "When I sent him to the 'Teachers' High
School' in Damanhour, he showed amazing achievements. As he was
growing up, he led a righteous, ascetic, and a worshiper's life. He
was first of his class throughout his education.

He was ahead of his peers in school, as he applied and was accepted
at the 'Higher Teachers' College: Dar Aluloum', four years earlier
than his peers. He went to Cairo with no brothers or friends, and
stayed in the House of Allah, i.e. the Mosque of Al-Azhar. When he
graduated in the 'College of Dar Aluloum, he was first of his class
in the Diploma exam. The Ministry of Education offered him a
scholarship opportunity in Europe, but he refused for something Allah
had designed. He was appointed as an elementary school teacher in Al
Ismaieliah School, on the West bank of the Suez Canal, where the
Da'awah was born where he established his thoughts and his
Group; "The Muslim Brothers' Group."

Fwd: INFO ABOUT DAJJAL

INFO ABOUT DAJJAL

Hadith - Bukhari 9.245, Narrated Abu Said

One day Allah's Apostle narrated to us a long narration about Ad-
Dajjal and among the things he narrated to us, was: "Ad-Dajjal will
come, and he will be forbidden to enter the mountain passes of
Medina. He will encamp in one of the salt areas neighboring Medina
and there will appear to him a man who will be the best or one of the
best of the people. He will say 'I testify that you are Ad-Dajjal
whose story Allah's Apostle has told us.' Ad-Dajjal will say (to his
audience), 'Look, if I kill this man and then give him life, will you
have any doubt about my claim?' They will reply, 'No,' Then Ad-Dajjal
will kill that man and then will make him alive. The man will
say, 'By Allah, now I recognize you more than ever!' Ad-Dajjal will
then try to kill him (again) but he will not be given the power to do
so."

Hadith - Bukhari 9.247, Narrated Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "There are angels at the mountain passes of
Medina (so that) neither plague nor Ad-Dajjal can enter it."

---------------------------------

Hadith - Bukhari 9.239, Narrated Anas bin Malik
The Prophet said, "Ad-Dajjal will come and encamp at a place close
to Medina and then Medina will shake thrice whereupon every Kafir
(disbeliever) and hypocrite will go out (of Medina) towards him."

---------------------------------

Dajjal is One-Eyed

Hadith - Bukhari 9.241, Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar
Allah's Apostle stood up amongst the people and then praised and
glorified Allah as He deserved and then he mentioned Ad-Dajjal,
saying, "I warn you of him, and there was no prophet but warned his
followers of him; but I will tell you something about him which no
prophet has told his followers: Ad-Dajjal is one-eyed whereas Allah
is not."

Hadith - Bukhari 9.504, Narrated Abdullah
Ad-Dajjal was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet . The
Prophet said, "Allah is not hidden from you; He is not one-eyed,"
and pointed with his hand towards his eye, adding, "While Al-Masih Ad-
Dajjal is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a protruding
grape."

Hadith - Bukhari 9.245, Narrated Anas
The Prophet said, "No prophet was sent but that he warned his
followers against the one-eyed liar (Ad-Dajjal). Beware! He is blind
in one eye, and your Lord is not so, and there will be written
between his (Ad-Dajjal's) eyes (the word) Kafir (i.e., disbeliever)."
(This Hadith is also quoted by Abu Huraira and Ibn 'Abbas).

---------------------------------

Hadith - Bukhari 9.237, Narrated Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established
(1) till two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be
a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following
one and the same religious doctrine,
(2) till about thirty Dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of
them will claim that he is Allah's Apostle,
(3) till the religious knowledge is taken away (by the death of
religious scholars)
(4) earthquakes will increase in number
(5) time will pass quickly,
(6) afflictions will appear,
(7) Al-Harj, (i.e., killing) will increase,
(8) till wealth will be in abundance--so abundant that a wealthy
person will worry lest nobody should accept his Zakat, and whenever
he will present it to someone, that person (to whom it will be
offered) will say, 'I am not in need of it,'
(9) till the people compete with one another in constructing
high buildings,
(10) till a man when passing by a grave of someone will
say, 'Would that I were in his place,'
(11) and till the sun rises from the West.
So when the sun will rise and the people will see it (rising from the
West) they will all believe (embrace Islam) but that will be the time
when: (As Allah said,) 'No good will it do to a soul to believe then,
if it believed not before, nor earned good (by deeds of
righteousness) through its Faith.' (6.158) And the Hour will be
established while two men spreading a garment in front of them but
they will not be able to sell it, nor fold it up; and the Hour will
be established when a man has milked his she-camel and has taken away
the milk but he will not be able to drink it; and the Hour will be
established before a man repairing a tank (for his livestock) is able
to water (his animals) in it; and the Hour will be established when a
person has raised a morsel (of food) to his mouth but will not be
able to eat it."

---------------------------------

Hadith - Muslim #7015, Narrated An-Nawwas ibn Sam'an
Allah's Apostle mentioned of the Dajjal one day in the morning.
He sometimes described him as insignificant and sometimes described
(his turmoil) as very significant (and we felt) as if he were in the
cluster of the date-palm trees. When we went to him (to the Holy
Prophet) in the evening and he read (the signs of fear) on our faces,
he said: What is the matter with you?
We said: Allah's Apostle you mentioned the Dajjal this morning
(sometimes describing him) as insignificant and sometimes very
important, until we began to think he was present in some (nearly)
part of the cluster of the date-palm trees.
So he said: I harbour fear in regard to you in so many other
things besides the Dajjal. If he comes forth while I am among you, I
shall contend with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth while I
am not among you, a man must contend on his own behalf and Allah will
take care of every Muslim on my behalf (and safeguard him against his
evil). He (the Dajjal) will be a young man with twisted, cropped
hair, and a blind eye. I compare him with AbdulUzza ibn Qatan. He who
among you will survive to see him should recite over him the opening
verses of Surah al-Kahf (xviii). He will appear on the way between
Syria and Iraq and will spread mischief right and left. O servant of
Allah! Adhere (to the path of Truth).
We said: Allah's Apostle , how long will he stay on Earth?
He said: For forty days, one day like a year, one day like a
month, one day like a week, and the rest of the days will be like
your days.
We said: Allah's Apostle will one day's prayer suffice for the
prayers of the day equal to one year?
Thereupon he said: No, but you must make an estimate of the
time (and then observe prayer).
We said: Allah's apostle how quickly will he walk upon the
earth?
Thereupon he said: Like cloud driven by the wind. He will come
to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion); they will affirm
their faith in him and respond to him. He will then give a command to
the sky: there will be rainfall upon the Earth and it will grow
crops. Then in the evening, their pasturing animals will come to them
with their humps very high, their udders full of milk and their
flanks distended. He will then come to another people and invite
them. But they will reject him so he will go away from them; they
will have a drought and nothing will be left with them in the form of
wealth. He will then walk through the desert and say to it: Bring
forth your treasures. The treasures will come out and gather before
him like a swarm of bees. He will then call someone in the flush of
youth, strike him with the sword, cut him into two pieces and (make
these pieces lie at the distance which is generally between the
archer and his target. He will then call (that young
man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with
happiness).
It will at this very time that Allah will send Christ, son of
Mary. He will descend at the white minaret on the eastern side of
Damascus, wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing
his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he lowers his head, there
will fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he raises it
up, beads like pearls will scatter from it. Every non-believer who
smells the odour of his body will die and his breath will reach as
far as he is able to see. He will then search for him (Dajjal) until
he catches hold of him at the gate of Ludd and kills him. Then a
people whom Allah had protected will come to Jesus, son of Mary, and
he will wipe their faces and inform them of their ranks in Paradise.
It will be under such conditions that Allah will reveal to Jesus
these words: I have brought forth from among My servants such people
against whom none will be able to fight; you take these people safely
to Tur, and then Allah will send Gog and Magog
and they will swarm down from every slope. The first of them will
pass the lake of Tiberias and drink out of it. And when the last of
them passes, he will say: There was once water there.
Jesus and his companions will then be besieged here (at Tur, and
they will be so hard pressed) that the head of the ox will be dearer
to them than one hundred dinars. Allah's Apostle , Jesus, and his
companions will supplicate Allah, Who will send to them insects
(which will attack their necks) and in the morning they would perish
as one single person. Allah's Apostle , Jesus, and his companions,
then come down to Earth and they will not find on Earth as much space
as a single span that is not filled with putrefaction and stench.
Allah's Apostle , Jesus, and his companions will then beseech Allah
who will send birds whose necks would be like those of Bactrian
camels and they will carry them away and throw them where Allah
wills.
Then Allah will send rain which no house of mud-bricks or (tent
of) camel-hair will keep out and it will wash the Earth until it
resembles a mirror. Then the Earth will be told to bring forth its
fruit and restore its blessing and, as a result thereof, there will
grow (such a big) pomegranate that a group of people will be able to
eat it and seek shelter under its skin, a dairy cow will give so much
milk that a whole party will be able to drink it. The milking camel
will give such (a large quantity of) milk that the whole tribe will
be able to drink from it, and the milking-sheep will give so much
milk that the whole family will be able to drink from it. At that
time Allah will send a pleasant wind which will soothe (people) even
under their armpits. He will take the life of every Muslim and only
the wicked will survive who will commit adultery like asses and the
Last Hour would come to them.

---------------------------------

Hadith - Abu Dawood #4305, Narrated Imran ibn Husayn
The Prophet said: Let him who hears of the Dajjal (Antichrist) go
far from him for I swear by Allah that a man will come to him
thinking he is a believer and follow him because of confused ideas
roused in him by him.

"READ HADITH AND SP-READ HADITH "

The knowledge of the Sunnah has reached us via means of the hadeeth
of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). The
hadeeth refers to a combination of a text and a chain of narration
(isnaad) beginning from the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)
and ending at the scholar who recorded that hadeeth.

Ibn Umar (ra) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "There

good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these Ten Days. So increase
in your saying of Tahlíl (Lâ ilâha illallâh), Takbír (Allâhu Akbar),

Abu Qatâdah (ra) reported that the Messenger (saw) said: "Fasting the

All brothers and sisters are encouraged to increase in their worship
and good deeds during these blessed days of Dhul Hijjah. Fasting in
the first ten days is recommended, especially on the Day of 'Arafah.
One should also try to engage in more dhikr (remembrance of Allah),
du'a (supplications), seek Allah's forgiveness, and perform the
sacrifice (Udhiyyah / Qurbâni) on the 10-13th of Dhul Hijjah if
they are able to do so.

Fwd: The Excellence of Adhan

--- In hidayahnet@yahoogroups.com, "Islah Net" <islahnet@...> wrote:

The Excellence of Adhan

1033. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The
Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Were people to know the blessing of
pronouncing Adhan and the standing in the first row, they would even
draw lots to secure these privileges. And were they to realize the
reward of performing Salat early, they would race for it; and were
they to know the merits of Salat after nightfall (`Isha') and the
dawn (Fajr) Salat, they would come to them even if they had to
crawl.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary: This expression 'to crawl' is used to illustrate the high
merit of praying `Isha and Fajr in congregation in the mosque. This
Hadith also urges to make best to occupy the first rows, as the
`Angels of Mercy' pray for the Imam first, then for those who pray
immediately behind him in the first row, then those behind them, and
so on. The Hadith also points out the excellence of Adhan and the
great reward of the person who pronounces it.

1034. Mu`awiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the
Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying: "The Mu'adhdhinun (callers to
prayer) will have the longest necks on the Day of Resurrection.''
[Muslim].

Commentary: This Hadith highlights the eminence of Mu'adhdhin and
Adhan. Adhan means calling people to the worship of Allah. Mu'adhdhin
(the caller) gets reward for the Salat of all those who hear his
Adhan. The phrase "will have the longest necks'' has been given
different interpretations. One of them is that they are those who
long for the Mercy of Allah more than anyone else. Another
interpretation is that their necks will grow longer on the Day of
Requital and so sweat will not reach them, for every one will sweat
on that day depending on his deeds: sweat will reach up to one's
ankles or knees or waists. In the case of some people, sweat will
reach up to their mouths. Another interpretation is that those who
call Adhan will have an honourable and great status on the Day of
Requital.

1035. `Abdullah bin `Abdur-Rahman reported: Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May
Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "I see that you like living
among your sheep in wilderness. So whenever you are with your sheep
or in wilderness and you want to call Adhan, you should raise your
voice because whoever hears the Adhan, whether a human or jinn or any
other creature, will testify for you on the Day of Resurrection.''
Abu Sa`id added: "I heard this from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).''
[Al-Bukhari].

Commentary: Shayun is used for everything, or every other thing, and
covers animals, vegetables and inanimate matter. On the Day of
Requital, Almighty Allah will grant the faculty of speech, and all
these things will testify for the Mu'adhdhin, as would be done by
mankind and jinn.

1036. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The
Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "When Adhan for Salat is pronounced,
the devil takes to his heels and breaks wind with noise so as not to
hear the call. When the Adhan is finished, he returns. When the
Iqamah is announced, he turns his back, and after it is finished, he
returns again to distract the attention of one and makes him remember
things which he does not recall in his mind before the Salat, and
says `Remember this, and this,' and thus causes one to forget how
many Rak`at he performed.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary: The words signify that Satan runs with great speed and he
breaks wind, or he intentionally does so. In any case, it shows that
he has an aversion for Adhan. The second point that we learn from
this Hadith is that the concentration of mind is a must for Salat to
defeat all attempts of Satan to disrupt it.

1037. `Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`As (May Allah be pleased with them)
reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "When you
hear the Adhan, repeat what the Mu'adhdhin says. Then ask Allah to
exalt my mention because everyone who does so will receive in return
ten rewards from Allah. Then beseech Allah to grant me Al-Wasilah,
which is a high rank in Jannah, fitting for only one of Allah's
slaves; and I hope that I will be that man. If any one asks Al-
Wasilah for me, it becomes incumbent upon me to intercede for him.''
[Muslim]

Commentary: To invoke blessings upon the Prophet (PBUH) means to
recite "Allahumma salli `ala Muhammadin, wa `ala ali Muhammadin, kama
sallaita `ala Ibrahima wa `ala ali Ibrahima, innaka Hamidun Majid.''
Wasilah literally means that mode or method by which one attains his
goal, but here it stands for that high rank in Jannah which will be
awarded to the Prophet (PBUH). The word Shafa`ah means to beg
someone to pardon somebody's faults and shortcomings or to request
someone for doing a virtuous deed. In the context of this Hadith, it
refers to the privilege of intercession of the Prophet (PBUH) due to
which he will request for the forgiveness of such people for whom he
will be given permission by Allah.

1038. Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "When you hear the Mu'adhdhin
(pronouncing the call to Salat), repeat after him what he says.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary: This Hadith also tells us to repeat the words of Adhan
when we hear it. But when he says "Hayya `alas-Salah'' or "Hayya
`alal-Falah'' we must say "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.''

1039. Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger
of Allah (PBUH) said, "He who says upon hearing the Adhan: `Allahumma
Rabba hadhihid-da`wati-ttammati, was-salatil-qa'imati, ati
Muhammadanil-wasilata wal-fadhilata, wab`athu maqaman mahmuda
nilladhi wa `adtahu [O Allah, Rubb of this perfect call (Da`wah) and
of the established prayer (As-Salat), grant Muhammad the Wasilah and
superiority, and raise him up to a praiseworthy position which You
have promised him]', it becomes incumbent upon me to intercede for
him on the Day of Resurrection.''
[Al-Bukhari].

Commentary: This Hadith tells us the merit of (the prayer by maens
of which one attains his should be recited in the manner narrated by
`Abdullah bin `Amr, which says that one should first repeat the
wording of Adhan, then recite the prayer asking to exalt the mention
of the Prophet (PBUH) and then pray Allah to grant him the Wasilah.

1040. Sa`d bin Abu Waqqas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (PBUH) said, "He who says after the Adhan: `Ash-hadu an
la ilaha illallah Wah-dahu la sharika Lahu; wa ash-hadu anna
Muhammadan `abduhu wa Rasuluhu, radhitu Billahi Rabban, wa bi
Muhammadin Rasulan, wa bil Islami Dinan [I testify that there is no
true god except Allah Alone; He has no partners and that Muhammad
(PBUH) is His slave and Messenger; I am content with Allah as my
Rubb, with Muhammad as my Messenger and with Islam as my Deen],' his
sins will be forgiven.''
[Muslim].

Commentary: This Hadith mentions another prayer which should be
recited beside the already mentioned Du`a-al-Wasilah.

1041. Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of
Allah (PBUH) said: "The supplication made between the Adhan and the
Iqamah is never rejected.''
[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

Fwd: Scots see 'serious conflict' with Muslim community

--- In hidayahnet@yahoogroups.com, "Islah Net" <islahnet@...> wrote:

Scots see 'serious conflict' with Muslim community

Today's Sunday Herald carries a report on a recent study from
Glasgow University. It shows that more people think there is serious
conflict between Muslims and Scotland, than there is between
Catholics and Protestants.

Just under a third thought that Muslims were taking away jobs, while
four-fifths questioned the loyalty of Muslims to Scotland. Click here
to read the whole article.

The findings underline the work that still needs to be done in
portraying a good image of Islam in our society, something we all
have a duty to contribute to.

Last week, the Sunday Herald asked prominent Scots on their opinions
regarding Hutton and tuition fees. MAB were quoted alongside the
likes of Sir Menzies Campbell, Tommy Sheridan, Robin Cook, Michael
Ancram and various church leaders. See below for the piece.

We asked prominent Scots and other personalities if they thought
Blair would survive the combined onslaught of the Hutton report and
tuition fees vote - and if he deserves to. This is what they said
Sunday Herald 25/01/2004

John Byrne, playwright and artist: I think Blair probably will
survive although I do not think he deserves to at all. He took us
into that whole debacle over Iraq but he will no doubt survive. He
seems to have a certain amount of luck, although I do not think he
deserves that either.

Rev Alex J McDonald, Presbyterian Free Church of Scotland: There is
no set view in churches and many people may take different views but
I feel that the war was just. It has been built up as D-Day for Blair
but usually at this stage in a prime minister's reign his role comes
into question.

Osama Saeed, from the Muslim Association of Britain: There is one
word that links Blair's troubled 24 hours and that is "lies". He lied
in his manifesto when he said he wouldn't introduce top-up fees, and
he lied when he said he had nothing to do with the naming of Dr
Kelly.

Menzies Campbell, LibDem MP, Fife North East: It's a curious
coincidence that these two major political issues have come together.
For Blair to fall he'd have to lose the tuition fees vote and be
criticised by Hutton. The loyalty of the Labour Party may be enough
to see him through.

Archbishop Mario Conti: The Hutton Inquiry relates to one specific
and tragic death, that of Dr Kelly. One can't help thinking this has
been lost sight of in the media frenzy over the questions of
government tactics, role of the BBC and rights and wrongs of the war.

Jim Wallace, leader of the Scottish LibDems: In spite of Lord
Hutton's thoroughness, his remit is limited to the narrow issue of
the circumstances that led to Dr Kelly's death. But there is still
the unanswered question. Why did we go to war against Iraq on a
flawed prospectus?

The Most Rev Bruce Cameron, the primus of the Scottish Episcopal
Church: Whatever the outcome of the inquiry, one lesson is the great
need for sensitivity by the media and politicians and the potential
pressures and effect they can have on other people's lives.

Tommy Sheridan, Leader, Scottish Socialist Party: Blair will survive
because his party is full of spineless careerists more interested in
defending their own wages than ensuring honesty in politics and the
defence of free education. He doesn't deserve to.

Rev Alan McDonald, convener of the Church and Nation Committee of the
General Assembly: It is right that we should be told the truth about
the tragic death of a person. However, after all this time, the real
questions surrounding the war with Iraq remain unanswered.

Richard Holloway, author and former primus of the Scottish Episcopal
Church: I strongly opposed the war in Iraq but I agree with Blair
over tuition fees. I want him to win the vote over tuition fees for
the party and then resign over what has happened in Iraq.

Annabel Goldie, Tory list MSP: On top-up fees Blair has in a sense
undermined his own stature. The whole Hutton process has been an
accumulative attack on his position. His survival is now about what
the past events have done to change the public's opinion about him.

Roseanna Cunningham, SNP MSP for Perth: I think Blair's credibility
is already seriously in doubt before we even get to next week. For my
part it is hard to see how anyone with such a low standing in the
public's eyes can continue to have the premiership.

Patrick Harvie, Green Party MSP: I'm glad that I'm not a Labour MP
this week. Does he deserve to survive? Absolutely not. You can say
what you like about top-up fees but he took the country to war on the
basis of a lie and he should go just on that point alone.

Robin Cook, Labour MP and the ex foreign minister: It is becoming
really rather undignified for the prime minister to continue to
insist that he was right all along when everybody can now see he was
wrong, when even the head of the Iraq Survey Group has said he was
wrong.

Michael Ancram, shadow foreign secretary: It raises very serious
questions about the prime minister and why he told us what he did
last year ... about WMD. It is important if we are to be able to
rely... on the word of the prime minister we need a public inquiry to
do that.

Glenda Jackson, Hampstead and Highgate Labour MP: If one of the
servants [David Kay] of the main architect of the war [President
George W Bush] is now saying there are no weapons, I think the Prime
Minister should resign.

Press Release

WMD Inquiry: We Need The Whole Truth

The Muslim Council of Britain believes that any inquiry into Iraq's
hitherto elusive Weapons of Mass Destruction must not be limited to
the quality of intelligence received but must also investigate the
reasons why our government took us to war against Iraq.

"In light of what we have learned over the past few months, many in
Britain are now convinced that the Blair government had already made
the fateful decision to go to war against Iraq alongside the United
States. This was regardless of the outcome of deliberations at the
United Nations or the findings uncovered by the UN Weapons Inspection
Team. A specific objective of the inquiry must be to establish when
the decision was made to launch the pre-emptive war. Was this prior
to the availability of specific intelligence? If the answer is yes,
then the intelligence services are not alone responsible and others
need also to be brought to book," said Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-
General of the Muslim Council of Britain.

As long ago as last May, Paul Wolfowitz, the US Deputy Defence
Secretary had admitted in an interview with Vanity Fair, that it was
for 'bureaucratic reasons' alone that the issue of WMD had been
chosen to focus on in the run up to war against Iraq. On March 17th
2003, in his resignation speech on the eve of war against Iraq, the
former Leader of the House of Commons, Robin Cook, highlighted his
belief that "Iraq probably has no weapons of mass destruction in the
commonly understood sense of the term."

"In order for our country to move forward past this unsavoury chapter
in our foreign policy, it is important that we now be told the truth,
the whole truth," added Iqbal Sacranie.

Mayor Ken Livingstone has written to the Prime Minister of France,
urging

the

Prime
Minister Jean-Pièrre Raffarin, the Mayor writes:

Ken Livingstone Mayor of London

'As the elected representative of London I have a duty to promote
equality
of opportunity for all in London. London's diverse population
includes large
Muslim communities and I am very concerned to ensure their full
inclusion in
the city's life. Any form of discrimination against their cultural and
religious freedom has, in my view, the effect of stigmatising them. I
believe that a move to ban the hijab and other religious symbols in
state
schools will inflame current tensions between communities and
encourage
attacks on minority communities, not only in France but also more
widely in
Europe. I realise that we come from political traditions, which
approach
this issue from different perspectives.

'London's Sikh community also viewed with considerable concern the

their co-religionists demonstrating in Paris over the recent weekend.

The Sikh community in the UK went through this debate in the 1960s
when
Sikhs won the right to wear the turban while undertaking policing

This issue has, of course, an effect on Jewish, Hindu and Christian
communities too.

fundamental religious freedoms in France through the proposed
legislation.'

Prevent French Anti-Hijab Laws on 3rd February 2004

Following the tremendous success of the 17th of January when thousands in
more than 35 countries heeded the Muslim Association of Britain and Muslim
Women Society's call to an International Day of Solidarity with the
Islamic
'Hijab', MAB and MWS call on everyone to show their protest once again
against the proposed Anti-Hijab laws on Tuesday the 3rd of February when
these laws will be deliberated in the French Parliament.

Saturday the 17th of January was a day when people of all faiths, all
colours and races came together to support our basic freedom of worship,
faith and belief. People from all creeds and cultures spoke loudly against
the proposed laws which would in effect violate French Muslim women's
basic
human rights and signal a dangerous turn in favour of xenophobes, racists
and fascists throughout Europe. The Muslim Association of Britain and the
Muslim Women Society wish to express their heartfelt thanks and
gratitude to
all those who stood tall, spoke loudly and promoted Muslim women's
right to
wear the Hijab.

Indications following the 17th, show that these efforts have not been in
vain. Many French politicians are currently re-assessing their
positions in
respect to this issue and to where they may stand come the 3rd of
February.

Therefore MAB and MWS have decided to call on the world once again to
stand
against these draconian proposals turning into laws which would disaffect
millions of Muslim girls and women in schools and work-places throughout
France and other European countries. This call entails the following:

1. MAB and MWS call for pickets and demonstrations to be held in front of
French Embassies, Consulates and Diplomatic Missions around the world,
delivering messages of protest against these proposed laws and
demanding the
French Parliament block them.

2. For messages, letters, faxes and e-mails to be sent to all local
parliamentarians and politicians calling on them to contact their French
counterparts and express their objection to these proposals which defy and
breach the basic notions of secularism, upon which modern France was
founded.

3. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, which falls on the 1st of February when
hundreds of millions of Muslims will be attending Eid sermons and prayers
world-wide, we call on Islamic scholars, imams, and leaders to declare the
issue of Hijab as the main theme of the Eid sermon (Khutba),and to
call for
a total and firm support for French Muslims in their present plight.

A concerted effort can make a difference. France and its politicians must
realise that approving laws that prevent Muslim women and girls from
wearing
their Islamic Hijab, is to lose the sympathy and support of Muslims
world-wide who appreciated and admired France's brave and courageous stand
in the lead-up to the war on Iraq.

Make Tuesday the 3rd of February 2004 a day of action and protest for
freedom and human and civil rights.

Fwd: S.Arabia To Upgrade Holy Sites After Stampede Incident

--- In hidayahnet@yahoogroups.com, "Islah Net" <islahnet@...> wrote:

S.Arabia To Upgrade Holy Sites After Stampede Incident

MINA, Saudi Arabia, February 2 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) -
Saudi Arabia has set up Monday, February 2, a high-profile ad hoc
committee following the tragic death of 244 pilgrims in a stampede
during the hajj ritual of stoning the three concrete pillars
representing the Satan on Sunday, February 1.

At a royal decree from Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdal Aziz, the committee
will draw up a comprehensive plan to develop the holy places,
chiefly Mina, some seven kilometers from Makkah, the Saudi news
agency (WAS) reported.

It will be headed by Minister Of Municipal and Rural Affairs Mut'ab
bin Abdal Aziz, the governor of Makkah, Prince Abdul Majid bin Abdal
Aziz and Hajj Minister Iyad bin Amin Madani.

Deadly Stampede

A total of 244 Muslim pilgrims were trampled to death and a similar
number injured during the Stoning of Satan ritual, which closes the
rituals for the nearly two million Muslim pilgrims who flocked to
Mina, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The dead included 54 Indonesians, 36 Pakistanis, 13 Egyptians, 11
Turks, 11 Indians, 10 Algerians, 10 Bangladeshis, eight Sudanese,
seven Moroccans, five Chinese, four Yemenis, three Sri Lankans, two
Afghans, two Somalis, two Syrians, two Saudis, one Burmese, one
Omani, one Tunisian, one Nigerian, one Chadian and one Cameroonian.

Another 58 people who died had not been identified, according to the
list carried by the official Saudi press agency (WAS), although
three were said to be from southeast Asia.

The huge crush started around 9:00 am (0600 GMT) as large numbers of
white-robed pilgrims surged toward the Jamarat Bridge to lob stones
at the pillars representing the devil. The incident lasted for 27
minutes.

"We believe that most of the dead are from among illegal pilgrims,"
Madani said, referring to those who arrived earlier in the year to
perform the Umrah (minor pilgrimage) and stayed illegally, as well
as local residents who never registered for the hajj.

He said 2,000 national guard members were moved to the area
following the stampede to reinforce 10,000 police already on site,
while helicopters also hovered overhead.

Despite the stampede, the ritual continued for two and a half hours.

"What happened this morning did not stop the accomplishing of the
hajj rituals. The pilgrims continued to rush in," Waleed Faydullah,
a 32-year-old Egyptian, told AFP.

The incident occurred despite that the time for throwing Jamrat Al-
`Aqabah on the day of `Eid, for those who are able to do it, is from
sunrise, and for those who are weak and unable to cope with the
crowding from the end of the night.

Yelling "Allahu Akbar", pilgrims hurl seven small stones from behind
a fence or from an overhead bridge every day for three days at each
of the three 18-metre (58-foot) high concrete pillars that symbolize
Satan.

The pillars stand only 155 meters (yards) apart and were mobbed as
the pilgrims tried to get close despite beefed-up security measures.

Satan appeared on the same site to the Prophet Abraham, son Ismael
and wife Hagar, who each threw seven stones at the devil.

The first two days of the pilgrimage passed without incident under
tight security -- although authorities said they arrested in Riyadh
on Thursday, January 29, seven suspected members of a "terror group"
planning an attack.

There have been many deadly stampedes in the past. Last year, 14
pilgrims, including six women, were killed in a stampede during the
first day of the stoning ritual and 35 in 2001, while the 1998 hajj
saw 118 killed and more than 180 hurt at Mina.

The worst toll of the pilgrimage was in July 1990, when 1,426
pilgrims were trampled or asphyxiated to death in a stampede in a
tunnel, also in Mina.

An Egyptian scholar put forward last month a couple of creative
ideas to alleviate the too much crowding in hajj season, suggesting
to make some of the rituals automated

The hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam along with faith, prayer,
charity and the annual Ramadan fast, climaxed on Saturday on the
nearby plain of Arafat where pilgrims prayed for forgiveness, after
which they spent the night in the town of Muzdalifa.

The pilgrims had spent Friday, January 30, in prayer and meditation
in Mina, some seven kilometers (4.5 miles) away from Makkah.

--- In hidayahnet@yahoogroups.com, "Islah Net" <islahnet@...> wrote:

QADIANIYYAH OR AHMADIYAH

IN THE NAME OF ALMIGHTY ALLAH, ALL KNOWING ALL GLOURIOUS

QADIANIYYAH OR AHMADIYAH

Definition of Qadianiyyah:

Qadianiyyah is a movement that started in 1900 CE as a plot by the
British colonialists in the Indian subcontinent, with the aim of
diverting Muslims away from their religion and from the obligation of
jihaad in particular, so that they would not oppose colonialism in the
name of Islam. The mouthpiece of this movement is the magazine
Majallat Al-Adyaan (Magazine if Religions) which was published in English.

Foundation and prominent personalities:

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad al-Qadiani (1839-1908 CE) was the main tool by
means of which Qadianiyyah was founded. He was born in the village of
Qadian, in the Punjab, in India, in 1839 CE. He came from a family
that was well known for having betrayed its religion and country, so
Ghulam Ahmad grew up loyal and obedient to the colonialists in every
sense. Thus he was chosen for the role of a so-called prophet, so that
the Muslims would gather around him and he would distract them from
waging jihaad against the English colonialists. The British government
did lots of favours for them, so they were loyal to the British.
Ghulam Ahmad was known among his followers to be unstable, with a lot
of health problems and dependent on drugs.

Their thought and beliefs

1. Ghulam Ahmad began his activities as an Islamic daa'iyah (caller to
Islam) so that he could gather followers around him, then he claimed
to be a mujaddid inspired by Allaah. Then he took a further step and
claimed to be the Awaited Mahdi and the Promised Messiah. Then he
claimed to be a Prophet and that his prophethood was higher than that
of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

2. The Qadianis believe that Allaah fasts, prays, sleeps, wakes up,
writes, makes mistakes and has intercourse - exalted be Allaah far
above all that they say.

3. The Qadiani believes that his god is English because he speaks to
him in English.

4. The Qadianis believe that Prophethood did not end with Muhammad
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), but that it is ongoing,
and that Allaah sends a messenger when there is a need, and that
Ghulam Ahmad is the best of all the Prophets.

5. They believe that Jibreel used to come down to Ghulam Ahmad and
that he used to bring revelation to him, and that his inspirations are
like the Qur'aan.

6. They say that there is no Qur'aan other than what the "Promised
Messiah" (Ghulam Ahmad) brought, and no hadeeth except what is in
accordance with his teachings, and no Prophet except under the
leadership of Ghulam Ahmad.

7. They believe that their book was revealed. Its name is al-Kitaab
al-Mubeen and it is different from the Holy Qur'aan.

8. They believe that they are followers of a new and independent
religion and an independent Sharee'ah, and that the friends of Ghulam
are like the Sahaabah.

9. They believe that Qadian is like Madeenah and Makkah, if not better
than them, and that its land is sacred. It is their Qiblah and the
place they make hajj to.

10. They called for the abolition of jihaad and blind obedience to the
British government because, as they claimed, the British were "those
in authority" as stated in the Qur'aan.

11. In their view every Muslim is a Kaafir unless he becomes a
Qadiani, and everyone who married a non-Qadiani is also a kaafir.

12. They allow alcohol, opium, drugs and intoxicants.

Intellectual and ideological roots

13. The westernizing movement of Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan paved the way
for the emergence of the Qadianiyyah, because it had already spread
deviant ideas.

14. The British made the most of this opportunity so they started the
Qadiani movement and chose a man from a family that had a history of
being agents of the colonialists.

15. In 1953 CE, there was a popular revolution in Pakistan which
demanded the removal of Zafar-Allaah Khan from the position of Foreign
Minister and that the Qadiani sect should be regarded as a non-Muslim
minority. In this uprising around ten thousand Muslims were martyred,
and they succeeded in having the Qadiani minister removed from office.

16. In Rabee' al-Awwal 1394 AH (April 1974), a major conference was
held by the Muslim World League in Makkah, which was attended by
representatives of Muslim organizations from around the world. This
conference announced that this sect is Kaafir and is beyond the pale
of Islam, and told Muslims to resist its dangers and not to cooperate
with the Qadianis or bury their dead in Muslim graveyards.

17. The Majlis al-Ummah in Pakistan (the central parliament) debated
with the Qadiani leader Mirza Naasir Ahmad, and he was refuted by
Shaykh Mufti Mahmood (may Allaah have mercy on him). The debate went
on for nearly thirty hours but Naasir Ahmad was unable to give answers
and the Kufr of this group was exposed, so the Majlis issued a
statement that the Qadianis should be regarded as a non-Muslim minority.

Among the factors that make Mirza Ghulam Ahmad an obvious Kaafir are
the following:

1. His claim to be a Prophet
2. His abolition of the duty of jihaad, to serve the interests of the
colonialists.
3. His saying that people should no longer go on Hajj to Makkah, and
his substitution of Qadian as the place of pilgrimage.
4. His anthropomorphism or likening Allaah to human beings.
5. His belief in the transmigration of souls and incarnation.
6. His attributing a son to Allaah and his claim to be the son of God.
7. His denying that Prophethood ended with Muhammad (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his regarding the door of
Prophethood to be open to "any Tom, Dick or Harry".
8. The Qadianis have strong ties with Israel. Israel has opened
centres and schools for them, and helped them to publish a magazine
which is their mouthpiece, to print books and publications for
distribution worldwide.
9. The fact that they are influenced by Judaism, Christianity and
al-Baatiniyyah is clear from their beliefs and practices, even though
they claim to be Muslims.

Their spread and positions of influence

1. Most of the Qadianis nowadays live in India and Pakistan, with a
few in Israel and the Arab world. They are trying, with the help of
the colonialists, to obtain sensitive positions in all the places
where they live.

2. The Qadianis are very active in Africa and in some western
countries. In Africa they have more than 5,000 teachers and dai'yahs
working full-time to call people to Qadianiyyah. Their wide-spread
activity proves that they have the support of the colonialists.

3. The British government is also supporting this movement and making
it easy for their followers to get positions in world governments,
corporate administration and consulates. Some of them are also
high-ranking officers in the secret services.

4. In calling people to their beliefs, the Qadianis use all kinds of
methods, especially educational means, because they are
highly-educated and there are many scientists, engineers and doctors
in their ranks. In Britain there is a satellite TV channel called
Islamic TV which is run by the Qadianis.

From the above, it is clear that:
Qadianiyyah is a misguided group, which is not part of Islam at all.
Its beliefs are completely contradictory to Islam, so Muslims should
beware of their activities, since the 'Ulama' (scholars) of Islam have
stated that they are Kaafirs.

BUSINESS/DAWAH OPPORTUNITY FOR DEVELOPING MUSLIM WEBSITES

I have a number of websites that have been registered, but due to
time constraints and commitments I have been unable to make much
progress with some of them. I am looking for brothers/sisters who
are experienced web designers or can work on their own initiative
to develop, build and promote these sites. You should have time on
your hands, be Islamically minded, and motivated for dawah and/or
profit. For revenue generating sites, we can come to a mutual
agreement about how to distribute any profits insha'Allah.

Listed below are the sites I have available for this opportunity
and some ideas I had in mind for them:

(1) www.buymuslim.com, www.buymuslim.net, www.buymuslim.co.uk -
primarily for profit. Extensive work had gone into www.buymuslim.net
which was the main shopping portal. Professional e-commerce software
had been installed and many products listed. However due to the time
needed, I was unable to carry on with these sites. The potential for
these sites are huge. If www.buymuslim.net remained as the shopping
portal offering Islamic products and goods, www.buymuslim.com and
www.buymuslim.co.uk could be information portals for Muslim
businesses.

(2) www.trademuslim.com - primarily for profit. Similar concept to
above, but was primarily intended for Muslim businesses to trade
with each other, in a way similar to Alibaba.com. With a worldwide
Muslim population over 1.2 billion, the potential is huge.

(3) www.muslimyouth.co.uk - primarily a da'wah website, offering
media, news, articles and da'wah material for Muslim youth in the
UK. Could be coupled with providing Islamic products aimed at
youth to generate some revenue.

(4) www.islamicmarriage.co.uk - for profit as well as providing an
important service to the Muslim community. Would offer a marriage
introduction service aimed mainly at UK Muslims. Free software has
been installed (ignore the homepage images!) and configured. Needs
to be re-designed with relevant graphics yet to be supplied. With
over 2 million Muslims in the UK it has considerable potential.
Should be a free service, but once in full flow, users could be
charged for enhanced features. However, please note, this should
be an "Islamic" matrimonial service, not an opportunity for
"dating/free-mixing" that some other so-called Muslim marriage
sites appear to be functioning as.

(5) www.themuslimummah.com - primarily for da'wah, although would
need to generate revenue for expansion into other areas. Intention
was to start as an independant Muslim news website. Once enough
traffic established could charge for advertising. Potential to
turn into website for a Muslim newspaper eventually.

(6) www.zahera.com - primarily for profit. Intention was to set it
up as a Muslim women's website. Could offer various products and
services aimed at Muslim women/girls, such as suitable jobs, hijabs,
clothing, books, beauty/health services, etc.

All these sites can be incorporated with each other and create a
high-traffic, productive audience insha'Allah. The idea is to create
Muslim websites with a strong Internet presence. The potential for
all of them is great, and if combined together the possibilities
are enormous. It just needs time, effort and money.

Ya'juj wa Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) were two powerful but barbarious
tribes that caused prejudice and chaos on the Earth, killing
God-fearing men and devastating all their provisions and plantation.
Their off-spring are believed to be still alive somewhere in the
East behind lofty mountains where Dhul-Qarnayn, had erected a
powerful barrier (wall) to protect the people.

"They said, Dhul-Qarnayn! Ya'juj and Ma'juj are causing corruption
in the land. Can we, therefore, pay tribute to you in return for
your constructing a barrier between us and them?" (Qur'an, 18:94)

"But when Ya'juj and Ma'juj are let loose and they rush headlong
down every hill .." (Qur'an, 21:97)

.. Zaynab bint Jahsh (ra) narrated, the Prophet (saws) got up
from his sleep; his face was flushed and he said, "There is no
god but Allah. Woe to the Arabs, for a great evil which is nearly
approaching them. Today a gap has been made in the wall of Gog
and Magog like this (Sufyan illustrated this by forming the number
of 90 or 100 with his fingers). Someone asked, "Shall we be
destroyed even though there are righteous people among us?" The
Prophet said, "Yes, if evil increases." (Bukhari).

Who are they? Some say they are the Mongols or Chinese? Others are
claiming that they are the Khazar Jews? Some believe they are Turkic
people? What did they do? Who was Dhul-Qarnayn? Was he Alexandar
the Great? Where is the 'Wall' of Ya'juj and Ma'juj? In Central Asia
or is it the Great Wall of China? What will happen when they return?
What will they look like? How will they conquer space? What is the
role of Isa (as) in all this?

For more than four thousand years the story of Dhul-Qarnayn and the
terrors of Ya'juj wa Ma'juj have become enshrouded in tales of myth
and fantasy. Dusting away the sands of history, Abdul Karim Hattin,
author of 'From the Shadows', presents an exclusive talk at the Froud
Centre following more then two years of research into two of the major
signs of the Day of Judgement. Using the latest in archaeological,
historical and hadith literature along with the incorruptible words
of the Qur'an, this lecture will insha'Allah go some way to further
confirming the truth of Islam and the impending and terrible Day of
Judgement. A full slide show will also be presented on the day -
fantasy will become reality!

Short History of Hajj

IslamiCity* -

Hajj literally means 'to set out for a place'. Islamically however it
refers
to the annual pilgrimage that Muslims make to Makkah with the
intention of
performing certain religious rites in accordance with the method
prescribed
by the Prophet Muhammad .

Hajj and its rites were first ordained by Allah in the time of the
Prophet
lbrahim [Abraham] and he was the one who was entrusted by Allah to
build the
Kaba - the House of Allah - along with his son Ismail [Ishmael] at
Makkah.
Allah described the Kaba and its building as follows:

"And remember when We showed Ibrahim the site of the [Sacred] House
[saying]: Associate not anything [in worship with Me and purify My
House for
those who circumambulate it [i.e. perform tawaaf] and those who stand
up for
prayer and those who bow down and make prostration [in prayer etc.]."
[Surah Al-Hajj 22:26]

After building the Kaba, Prophet Ibrahim would come to Makkah to perform
Hajj every year, and after his death, this practice was continued by his
son. However, gradually with the passage of time, both the form and
the goal
of the Hajj rites were changed. As idolatry spread throughout Arabia, the
Kaba lost its purity and idols were placed inside it. Its walls became
covered with poems and paintings, including one of Jesus and his mother
Maryam and eventually over 360 idols came to be placed around the Kaba.

During the Hajj period itself, the atmosphere around the sacred
precincts of
the Kaba was like a circus. Men and women would go round the Kaba naked,
arguing that they should present themselves before Allah in the same
condition they were born. Their prayer became devoid of all sincere
remembrance of Allah and was instead reduced to a series of hand
clapping,
whistling and the blowing of horns. Even the talbiah [1] was distorted by
them with the following additions: 'No one is Your partner except one
who is
permitted by you. You are his Master and the Master of what he possesses'.

Sacrifices were also made in the name of God. However, the blood of the
sacrificed animals was poured onto the walls of the Kaba and the flesh
was
hung from pillars around the Kaba, in the belief that Allah demanded the
flesh and blood of these animals.

Singing, drinking, adultery and other acts of immorality was rife amongst
the pilgrims and the poetry competitions, which were held, were a
major part
of the whole Hajj event. In these competitions, poets would praise the
bravery and splendor of their own tribesmen and tell exaggerated tales of
the cowardice and miserliness of other tribes. Competitions in generosity
were also staged where the chief of each tribe would set up huge
cauldrons
and feed the pilgrims, only so that they could become well-known for
their
extreme generosity.

Thus the people had totally abandoned the teachings of their
forefather and
leader Prophet Ibrahim. The House that he had made pure for the
worship of
Allah alone, had been totally desecrated by the pagans and the rites
which
he had established were completely distorted by them. This sad state of
affairs continued for nearly two and a half thousand years. But then
after
this long period, the time came for the supplication of Prophet
Ibrahim to
be answered:

"Our Lord! Send amongst them a Messenger of their own, who shall
recite unto
them your aayaat (verses) and instruct them in the book and the Wisdom
and
sanctify them. Verily you are the 'Azeezul-Hakeem [the All-Mighty, the
All-Wise]."
[Surah Al-Baqarah 2:129]

Sure enough, a man by the name of Muhammad ibn 'Abdullaah was born in
the
very city that Prophet Ibrahim had made this supplication centuries
earlier.
For twenty-three years, Prophet Muhammad spread the message of Tawheed
[true monotheism] - the same message that Prophet Ibrahim and all the
other
Prophets came with - and established the law of Allah upon the land. He
expended every effort into making the word of Allah supreme and his
victory
over falsehood culminated in the smashing of the idols inside the Kaba
which
once again became the universal center for the worshippers of the one
True
God.

Not only did the Prophet rid the Kaba of all its impurities, but he also
reinstated all the rites of Hajj which were established by Allah's
Permission, in the time of Prophet Ibrahim. Specific injunctions in the
Quran were revealed in order to eliminate all the false rites which had
become rampant in the pre-Islamic period. All indecent and shameful acts
were strictly banned in Allah's statement:

"There is to be no lewdness nor wrangles during Hajj."
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:197]

Competitions among poets in the exaltations of their forefathers and
their
tribesmen's achievements were all stopped. Instead, Allah told them:

"And when you have completed your rites [of Hajj] then remember Allah
as you
remember your forefathers; nay with a more vigorous remembrance."
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:200]

Competitions in generosity were also prohibited. Of course, the
feeding of
the poor pilgrims was still encouraged as this was done during the
time of
Prophet Ibrahim but Allah commanded that the slaughtering of the animals
which was done for this purpose should be done seeking the pleasure of
Allah
rather than fame and the praise of the people. He said:

"So mention the name of Allah over these animals when they are drawn
up in
lines. Then, when they are drawn on their sides [after the slaughter],
eat
thereof and feed the beggar who does not ask, and the beggar who asks."
[Surah al-Hajj 22:36]

As for the deplorable practice of spattering blood of the sacrificed
animals
on the walls of the Kaba and hanging their flesh on alters, then Allah
clearly informed them that:

"It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is
Taqwaa (piety) from you that reaches Him."
[Surah al-Hajj 22:37]

The Prophet also put a stop to the practice of circling the Kaba in a
state
of nudity and the argument that the pagans put forward to justify this
ritual was sharply rebutted in Allah's question:

"Say: Who has forbidden the adornment [i.e. clothes] given by Allah
which He
has produced for His Slaves?"
[Surah al-A'raaf 7:32]

Another custom which was prohibited through the Quran was that of setting
off for Hajj without taking any provisions for the journey. In the
pre-Islamic period, some people who claimed to be mutawakkiloon (those
having complete trust in Allah) would travel to perform Hajj begging for
food through the whole journey. They considered this form of behavior
a sign
of piety and an indication of how much faith they had in Allah. However
Allah told mankind that to have sufficient provisions for the journey was
one of the preconditions for making Hajj. He said:

"And take a provision [with you] for the journey, but the best
provision is
at-Taqwaa (piety)."
[Surah al-Baqarah 2:197]

In this way, all the pre-Islamic practices, which were based on
ignorance,
were abolished and Hajj was once more made a model of piety, fear of
Allah,
purity, simplicity and austerity. Now, when the pilgrims reach the Kaba,
they no longer find the carnivals and the frolic and frivolity that
had once
occupied the minds of the pilgrims there before. Now, there is the
remembrance of Allah at every step and every action and every
sacrifice was
devoted to Him alone. It was this kind of Hajj that was worthy of the
reward
of paradise, as the Prophet said: "The reward for an accepted Hajj is
nothing less than paradise."

May Allah grant us all the ability to visit His House and perform the
Hajj
in the manner of the Prophet Muhammad . Aameen.

SACRIFICE-The Making of a Muslim - Khurram Murad

Annual pilgrimage Hajj in Makkah, Muslims remember and commemorate the
trials and triumphs of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him). The
Qur'an describes Abraham as follows:

"Surely Abraham was an example, obedient to Allah, by nature upright,
and he was not of the polytheists. He was grateful for Our bounties.
We chose him and guided him unto a right path. We gave him good in
this world, and in the next he will most surely be among the
righteous." (Qur'an 16:120-121)

At the end of the pilgrimage, Muslims throughout the world celebrate
the Festival of Sacrifice (Eid al-Adha). During this celebration,
Muslims commemorate and remember this incident, by themselves
slaughtering an animal such as a sheep, camel, or goat. This action
is very often misunderstood by those outside the faith.

It is very important to understand that the sacrifice itself, as
practiced by Muslims, has nothing to do with atoning for our sins or
using the blood to wash us from sin. This is a misunderstanding by
those of previous generations:

"It is not their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your
piety that reaches Him." (Surah Al-Hajj 22:37)

The symbolism is in the attitude - a willingness to make sacrifices in
our lives in order to stay on the Straight Path. Each of us makes
small sacrifices, giving up things that are fun or important to us. A
true Muslim, one who submits his or herself completely to the Lord, is
willing to follow Allah's commands completely and obediently. It is
this strength of heart, purity in faith, and willing obedience that
our Lord desires from us.

SACRIFICE-The Making of a Muslim

Among many known books of Khurram Murad, this is a short yet thought
provoking exposition. It covers the following areas: Introduction of
Sacrifice, Why Sacrifice? (Islam: A Path of Struggle, Struggle: The
Indispensable Key, Islam and Sacrifice) What is Sacrifice? (Tangible &
Intangible) How to Sacrifice? (Love for Allah, Two Great Models of
Sacrifice) And Conclusion.

A very useful and valuable reference for Muslims, and for Non-Muslims
wishing to gain a deeper understanding of Sacrifice in Islam.

Author Biography: Khurram Murad was born in Bhopal, India in 1932, and
migrated to Pakistan in 1948. He studied civil engineering at the
University of Karachi (BEng. 1952), securing 1st place in the

(MSc. 1958), he worked as a leading consulting engineer in Karachi,
Dhaka, Tehran and Riyadh.

Associated Consulting Engineers Ltd., with which he worked as a Chief
Engineer and Resident Director, was responsible for the initial design
and electrification of the extension of the Masjid al-Haram, Makkah
and He played an important role in the formulation and implementation
of the plans for extension of the Haram.

He also served as the Director General of the Leicester-based Islamic

INFO ABOUT DAJJAL

Hadith - Bukhari 9.245, Narrated Abu Said

One day Allah's Apostle narrated to us a long narration about
Ad-Dajjal and among the things he narrated to us, was: "Ad-Dajjal will
come, and he will be forbidden to enter the mountain passes of Medina.
He will encamp in one of the salt areas neighboring Medina and there
will appear to him a man who will be the best or one of the best of
the people. He will say 'I testify that you are Ad-Dajjal whose story
Allah's Apostle has told us.' Ad-Dajjal will say (to his audience),
'Look, if I kill this man and then give him life, will you have any
doubt about my claim?' They will reply, 'No,' Then Ad-Dajjal will kill
that man and then will make him alive. The man will say, 'By Allah,
now I recognize you more than ever!' Ad-Dajjal will then try to kill
him (again) but he will not be given the power to do so."

Hadith - Bukhari 9.247, Narrated Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "There are angels at the mountain passes of
Medina (so that) neither plague nor Ad-Dajjal can enter it."

---------------------------------

Hadith - Bukhari 9.239, Narrated Anas bin Malik
The Prophet said, "Ad-Dajjal will come and encamp at a place close to
Medina and then Medina will shake thrice whereupon every Kafir
(disbeliever) and hypocrite will go out (of Medina) towards him."

---------------------------------

Dajjal is One-Eyed

Hadith - Bukhari 9.241, Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar
Allah's Apostle stood up amongst the people and then praised and
glorified Allah as He deserved and then he mentioned Ad-Dajjal,
saying, "I warn you of him, and there was no prophet but warned his
followers of him; but I will tell you something about him which no
prophet has told his followers: Ad-Dajjal is one-eyed whereas Allah is
not."

Hadith - Bukhari 9.504, Narrated Abdullah
Ad-Dajjal was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet . The Prophet
said, "Allah is not hidden from you; He is not one-eyed," and pointed
with his hand towards his eye, adding, "While Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal is
blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a protruding grape."

Hadith - Bukhari 9.245, Narrated Anas
The Prophet said, "No prophet was sent but that he warned his
followers against the one-eyed liar (Ad-Dajjal). Beware! He is blind
in one eye, and your Lord is not so, and there will be written between
his (Ad-Dajjal's) eyes (the word) Kafir (i.e., disbeliever)." (This
Hadith is also quoted by Abu Huraira and Ibn 'Abbas).

---------------------------------

Hadith - Bukhari 9.237, Narrated Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established
(1) till two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be
a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following
one and the same religious doctrine,
(2) till about thirty Dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of
them will claim that he is Allah's Apostle,
(3) till the religious knowledge is taken away (by the death of
religious scholars)
(4) earthquakes will increase in number
(5) time will pass quickly,
(6) afflictions will appear,
(7) Al-Harj, (i.e., killing) will increase,
(8) till wealth will be in abundance--so abundant that a wealthy
person will worry lest nobody should accept his Zakat, and whenever he
will present it to someone, that person (to whom it will be offered)
will say, 'I am not in need of it,'
(9) till the people compete with one another in constructing high
buildings,
(10) till a man when passing by a grave of someone will say,
'Would that I were in his place,'
(11) and till the sun rises from the West.
So when the sun will rise and the people will see it (rising from the
West) they will all believe (embrace Islam) but that will be the time
when: (As Allah said,) 'No good will it do to a soul to believe then,
if it believed not before, nor earned good (by deeds of righteousness)
through its Faith.' (6.158) And the Hour will be established while two
men spreading a garment in front of them but they will not be able to
sell it, nor fold it up; and the Hour will be established when a man
has milked his she-camel and has taken away the milk but he will not
be able to drink it; and the Hour will be established before a man
repairing a tank (for his livestock) is able to water (his animals) in
it; and the Hour will be established when a person has raised a morsel
(of food) to his mouth but will not be able to eat it."

If he comes forth while I am among you, I
shall contend with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth while I
am not among you, a man must contend on his own behalf and Allah will
take care of every Muslim on my behalf (and safeguard him against his
evil). He (the Dajjal) will be a young man with twisted, cropped hair,
and a blind eye. I compare him with AbdulUzza ibn Qatan. He who among
you will survive to see him should recite over him the opening verses
of Surah al-Kahf (xviii). He will appear on the way between Syria and
Iraq and will spread mischief right and left. O servant of Allah!
Adhere (to the path of Truth).
We said: Allah's Apostle , how long will he stay on Earth?
He said: For forty days, one day like a year, one day like a
month, one day like a week, and the rest of the days will be like your
days.
We said: Allah's Apostle will one day's prayer suffice for the
prayers of the day equal to one year?
Thereupon he said: No, but you must make an estimate of the time
(and then observe prayer).
We said: Allah's apostle how quickly will he walk upon the earth?
Thereupon he said: Like cloud driven by the wind. He will come
to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion); they will affirm
their faith in him and respond to him. He will then give a command to
the sky: there will be rainfall upon the Earth and it will grow crops.
Then in the evening, their pasturing animals will come to them with
their humps very high, their udders full of milk and their flanks
distended. He will then come to another people and invite them. But
they will reject him so he will go away from them; they will have a
drought and nothing will be left with them in the form of wealth. He
will then walk through the desert and say to it: Bring forth your
treasures. The treasures will come out and gather before him like a
swarm of bees. He will then call someone in the flush of youth, strike
him with the sword, cut him into two pieces and (make these pieces lie
at the distance which is generally between the archer and his target.
Every non-believer who
smells the odour of his body will die and his breath will reach as far
as he is able to see. He will then search for him (Dajjal) until he
catches hold of him at the gate of Ludd and kills him. Then a people
whom Allah had protected will come to Jesus, son of Mary, and he will
wipe their faces and inform them of their ranks in Paradise. It will
be under such conditions that Allah will reveal to Jesus these words:
I have brought forth from among My servants such people against whom
none will be able to fight; you take these people safely to Tur, and
then Allah will send Gog and Magog
and they will swarm down from every slope.
Allah's Apostle , Jesus, and his
companions will supplicate Allah, Who will send to them insects (which
will attack their necks) and in the morning they would perish as one
single person. Allah's Apostle , Jesus, and his companions, then come
down to Earth and they will not find on Earth as much space as a
single span that is not filled with putrefaction and stench. Allah's
Apostle , Jesus, and his companions will then beseech Allah who will
send birds whose necks would be like those of Bactrian camels and they
will carry them away and throw them where Allah wills.
The milking camel
will give such (a large quantity of) milk that the whole tribe will be
able to drink from it, and the milking-sheep will give so much milk
that the whole family will be able to drink from it. At that time
Allah will send a pleasant wind which will soothe (people) even under
their armpits. He will take the life of every Muslim and only the
wicked will survive who will commit adultery like asses and the Last
Hour would come to them.

---------------------------------

Hadith - Abu Dawood #4305, Narrated Imran ibn Husayn
The Prophet said: Let him who hears of the Dajjal (Antichrist) go far
from him for I swear by Allah that a man will come to him thinking he
is a believer and follow him because of confused ideas roused in him
by him.

Scotland defends the Hijab

Braving the cold of a Scottish January morning, around 250 protesters
from all over Scotland and the north of England came to express their
anger at the French Government's decision to ban all public outward
manifestations of religion, including the Muslim women's hijab,
mandatory within the religion. For pictures, see the MAB

The demonstration, held outside the French Consulate in Edinburgh's
Randolph Crescent, was attended by Muslim and non-Muslim alike and
represented people of differing backgrounds and organisations. But the
thing that united all the voices was that they were standing for human
rights and justice.

Chants included "If this is democracy, we say non-merci!". Shouts of
anger at Jacques Chirac's decision called for a retraction of the
policy
and expressed zero-tolerance for any leader who tries to implement
racist or discriminatory laws or practises.

The issue of hijab was raised in the media, with discussions taking
place on BBC talk shows, and coverage on radio stations like Clyde 1.

Saddam Hussein with colleagues shortly before the airport battle

November 12, 2007

Saddam Hussein was not captured in a "spider hole" in December 2003.
I wrote an article called "Saddam Hussein and Reality" that
chronicled the capture and the following days.

Unfortunately, almost four years after the apprehension of the
president of Iraq, many people still believe the fairy tale version
given by the U.S. Even Fidel Castro recently said that, unlike
Saddam, he would have never allowed his adversaries to capture him in
a hole. He would have shot it out with the enemy.

I admire Fidel Castro and the Cuban revolution. In fact, parts of the
Ba'ath revolution in Iraq were similar to those in Cuba, such as the
astute medical and education systems. If Fidel Castro believed the
propaganda, then we must be stronger in our attempts to get the truth
out. Saddam was caught doing just what Fidel said he would do:
battling the intruders.

We all saw the photos in December 2003 of a disheveled Saddam Hussein
after he was pulled out of a "spider hole" in a town near Tikrit. The
administration laughed and the U.S. public made jokes about him and
his hiding place.

The room was dirty. There was an empty Spam can. The story was that
he was holed up and was totally irrelevant to Iraq. His day was done
and he was now in the hands of the liberators.

Guess what? Nothing of this scenario was true.

On March 8, 2005, United Press International (UPI) ran a small press
release titled "Public Version of Saddam Capture Fiction." Don't
think you are remiss because you did read this, but it received scant
publicity in the U.S. Prior to my writing this article, I have found
only one news outlet that carried the story: WHAM Channel 13 of
Rochester, New York.

The U.P.I. press release consisted of quotes from ex-U.S. Marine
Nadim Rabeh, of Lebanese descent. In addition to the U.S. version of
the capture date being off by one day, during an interview in
Lebanon, he stated:

I was among the 20-man unit, including eight of Arab descent, who
searched for Saddam for three days in the area of Dour near Tikrit,
and we found him in a modest home in a small village and not in a
hole as announced.

We captured him after fierce resistance during which a Marine of
Sudanese origin was killed.

Rabeh recounted how Saddam fired at them with a gun from the window
of a room on the second floor. Then, the Marines shouted at him in
Arabic, "You have to surrender. There is no point in resisting."

How did we come to see the pictures of the hole and a scruffy-looking
Saddam? According to Rabeh, "Later on, a military production team
fabricated the film of Saddam's capture in a hole, which was in fact
a deserted well."

The former Marine's account mixes with the rendition Saddam Hussein
gave his lawyer when they had their first meeting. Saddam told him
that he was captured in a friend's house and that he was drugged and
tortured for two days. Hence, the pictures of Saddam looking bedraggled.

I went to Google.com and searched for images of Saddam's capture. All
the major news networks and publications showed pictures of the hole
and a beleaguered Saddam: Time Magazine, CNN News, magazines, daily
newspapers, etc. You name it and they published it.

But, they were all wrong. Not one publication took the time to
research the story. Not one. They just took pictures given by the
U.S. military and parroted the lines they were given.

I always wondered how he obtained a can of pork-laden Spam, since no
such product was offered in Iraq. It seems no one asked how a can of
Spam was in the hole. A few years ago, there was a picture on the
Internet that gained much publicity of a bunch of U.S. soldiers
standing next to an Iraqi building on which was depicted the blowing
up of the World Trade Center. The inference was that Iraqis took glee
in the acts of 9-11.

However, I noticed the soldiers were standing on a base path of a
baseball field. There were no baseball fields in Iraq. Then, I looked
at the trees and saw they were typical southeastern U.S. types that I
had never seen in any pictures of Iraq.

The photo was bogus, but the harm had been done. Even mainstream
media picked up and ran with the picture. I wrote to a few agencies
that used it, but received no reply. They were embarrassed.

Now, let's get back to Saddam and his spider hole and other aspects
of his life after April 9, 2003.

When he was captured, U.S. authorities said he was a spent force and
had no say in the ever-growing resistance. Hogwash. Subsequent
information shows that he was heading the Ba'ath resistance and
called many shots. For instance, on Wolfowitz' first visit to
Baghdad, he stayed at the Hotel Al-Rashid. A rocket was fired at the
building and killed a U.S. colonel on the floor just above
Wolfowitz'. Saddam Hussein personally ordered that strike and, for
the sake of about four meters, history may have been changed.

I have heard anecdotal tales of Saddam Hussein taking part in street
battles against U.S. troops. Various sources have told me this. So, I
wrote to an Iraqi contact in Baghdad (a retired colonel) and asked
him. I received a response about that as well as Saddam's capture.
Here are a few items he mentioned.
* Saddam's inside wear was very clean, which gives the impression
he was not in a hole.
* At the time they said they captured him, no dates were
available, but the trees they showed in the films had fresh dates on
the palm trees and this was not possible.
* My house is in the Adhamiya and I can say that I saw Saddam
after they announced the fall of Baghdad. I saw him myself. He was
standing on a bonnet of a car. He was giving smiles to the people
around him who were encouraging him by their loyalty, which they
always had.
* As I know, Saddam was on top of the battle at the airport.
* What I heard was that he was on top of many assaults against
the Americans.

Iraq Screen published an article shortly before Saddam Hussein's
assassination. The author interviewed an Iraqi officer of the
Republican Guard who participated in the battle for the airport in
Baghdad in April 2003. The officer recalled:

While I was busy shooting with my colleagues, all of a sudden, we
found Saddam Hussein with a number of his assistants inside the
airport, we were really surprised because we did not expect such a
thing, but Saddam went forward and took an RPG and put it on his
shoulder and began to shoot by himself. We gathered around him and
begged him to stay aside and leave us fighting because if we would be
killed, we are common officers, but if he is killed, we would lose
our leader. Saddam turned to us and said, "Look, I am no better than
any one of you and this is the high time to defend our great Iraq and
it would be a great honor to be killed as a martyr for the sake of Iraq."

From various sources, we now have a totally different story than the
one force-fed to us by the U.S. administration. Instead of Saddam
Hussein being a coward who fled and was caught in a hole in the
ground, he is the president, who, under siege, met publicly with his
people on April 9, 2003 (we saw video of this on U.S. TV), after
personally being involved with several battles against the invaders,
and who created a network of resistance while tens of thousands of
U.S. military people were looking for him.

One thing is sure. Most 65-year-old men are contemplating retirement.
However, Saddam Hussein lived off his wits, the land, and with
comrades for nine months, all the time coordinating a resistance
against illegal invaders. Most men half his age would not be able to
take the physical challenges of such a routine. This in itself is a
remarkable feat.

Let's look at Saddam's U.S. counterpart, George W. Bush. About the
only military achievement he ever performed was evading drug tests
while in the U.S. National Guard. There, he succeeded magnificently.

Unfortunately, the U.S. government is in possession of all of Iraq's
records prior to April 2003. Not one word will be mentioned that will
contradict the U.S. rewriting of Iraq's history. At best, we will
have to rely on anecdotal accounts and eye witnesses. It is neither
the best nor the most accurate form of history, but it's all we have now.
